** Puppy size can not be guaranteed** but I do give it my best shot to give you what you want.
We are located in southeastern Oklahoma. Where we're surrounded by beautiful lakes to fish in, trees to climb, and fresh air to breath! It is my great pleasure to have the opportunity to share with you one of my greatest passions in life!
In the past I have been know to receive a few rose ribbons in AKC dog shows, both as a child & young adult. As a family we have raised several different small breeds of dogs and a few sporting dogs. But my goal is to breed quality in my puppies to insure you a loving pet for as long as possible.
When you decide you would like to have one of my puppies, a nonrefundable deposit of $100.00 is required if the puppy is under 4 weeks of age or payment can be made in full. All puppies MUST be paid for in full by the puppies 7 week DOB (unless arrangements were made) This is not only to assure that I hold this puppy in your name but it is given in good faith that you are sincere in purchasing the puppy. By the time a deposit is given, I have spent a lot of my time e-mailing you with information about the puppy, answering your questions and sending pictures to you. I have also taken the time to talk to many of you on the phone at least once if not more. This is very time consuming but I feel very necessary to reassure you of my sincerity and credibility. In return I feel that by the time you make this deposit you are fully informed and aware of your conscious decision to purchase this puppy. Therefore... I will NOT refund any deposits/payment sent to me simply because you changed your mind or found someone else closer to you. The way we look at it is if you made your payment then you had all intentions of purchasing one of our babies and so all and any moneys are nonrefundable regardless of the reason[s]. I feel their are at times extenuating circumstances to this rule and I will take this under advisement at the time. Let me state it here that in the years of breeding this has been done less then a few times. Lap Dogs feel as long as we own that beed then you are able to receive a puppy breed in its place.
All puppies are given an Oklahoma state license vet certified health checkup before leaving for their new homes. They are guaranteed to be in good physical health and be up to date on vaccinations and deworming at the time they are placed. Lap Dogs will guarantee any puppy as long as it is over 2 pound at time of purchase from birth to 6 months of birth against `life threatening' birth defects common to the breed: As in heart murmurs (stage 4 and over ONLY), kidneys, and liver problems. Not guaranteed for Hypoglycemia, Coccidia or Giardia regardless of level or reason. (Your puppy already has been given medication for Coccidia & Giardia ) or any problem that will cause them no not to live and being required to be put to sleep. If the puppy can live with the problem then I do not cover it... Again ONLY if it had to be put to sleep.. If you are purchase a breed of this size (under 2 pounds) you have to realize that as with all things, animal and human, it will not come perfect and will come with some fault. This is just a given from Mother Nature! You can look at it this way. Think its as if it were a premie human baby. Due to being a premie even a cold can go wrong.... same applies here for doggie babies under 2 pounds. Some babies nothing will bother them, others every cold draft and extra energy used could turn in to a problem...its something you'll NEVER guess about before hand you just try to do the best you can by having the healthiest parents and by doing everything we know to do to keep the doggie babies safe and healthy!
When you purchase one of our babies and by signing our health/purchase agreement you acknowledge that if your puppy was shipped, locally picked up or if we met you, you are required to have a licensed Vet check within 2 working business days (or 2 days following a Sunday) from date of acquiring your puppy. Buyers have no excuse to not make a Vet appointment within the requited 2 days after arrival!!!! This will need to be done in order for my guarantee to be honored. .......At NO TIME will I refund any money for the puppy nor will I pay any part of any vet bills incurred by you (the new owner) on behalf of the puppy. Further, all costs for shipment of replacement puppies and puppy being returned will be the responsibility of the new owners at No TIME will I pay for this. This Vet check is to insure your baby made the journey OK and it also validates your health guarantee. If your puppy does not receive a licensed Vet check within this allotted time I will not honor any health guarantee what so ever regardless of reason. Lap Dogs Kennel guarantees this puppy to be free of Parvo, Distemper, Corona Virus, Parainfuenza and AdenoVirus Type II for a period of 1 week from the last vaccination the puppy received by me on the condition the puppy receives a vaccination every 2 weeks until the puppy is 16 weeks of age (total of 6 puppy shots). These must be given by a licensed Vet in your state even if your a dog breeder. You are required to keep regular Vet visits, shots, and deworming up to date... If the occasion arrived you may have to provide this information.
All puppies are guaranteed for 7 days against brucellosis if tested at this first puppy check. Puppies are guaranteed for 6 months from date of birth against `life threatening' birth defects common to the breed: As in heart murmurs (stage 4 and over ONLY), kidneys, and liver problems. Not guaranteed for Hypoglycemia and Coccidia regardless of level or reason. (Your puppy already has been given medication for Coccidia & Giardia ) For all my Mom's, Dad's and puppies I use 2 great Animal Vets that specialize in small animals. They are very up to date on the latest dog information. Your puppy will also receive one puppy shot of Vanguard 5 + and another following every 2-3 weeks until sold. Also, dewormed 2 or more times with one or more with, Pyrantel 50, Panacur, and given medication against Coccidia and Giardia. As added precaution I also give a 1/2 dose of Parvo and a full dose of nasal Bortadella ( Kennel cough). I do provide you with this information on his/her health history. Please give this paper to your vet so they may continue with this program this does not pertain to babies under 2 pounds.
If at any time a puppy is NOT kept on a Vet schedule that is recommended here any and all health guarantee is void. ...
YOU MAY HAVE TO SHOW PROOF SO PLEASE HAVE YOUR VET give you the STICKERS OFF THE VACCINATION BOTTLES you may have to ask your vet for them.. here is what we recommend;
puppy wormed 1@ every 2 month, (Wormer of Vets choice
puppy shots- Vanguard 5+ @ every 2-3 wks until 16 wks of age,
Adult Booster - Vanguard 5 with Lepto shot every 12 months, (given at 1 yr. of age and once a yr. after
1 Rabies before 6 months, given 1 every yr. (required after 12 weeks if shipping)
Kennel Cough- (give 1 yr,every year or more if travel or boarding
Heart guard started 6 mo old..... or Vet recommendations
(give by Vets directions although you may use a different brand then the vaccination brand that we use, we must insist the puppy vaccination shots to NOT have Lepto in it (until your puppy is over 1 yr. old). If you choose to do so you void this health agreement. So ask your Vet in advance before you take your puppy. Lepto is know to cause harm and can/ have killed toy breed puppies. We DO NOT give it here at Lap Dogs Kennel to puppies and by you doing so this will void your health guarantee. I must insist this due to problems in the past. It is only fair to the puppy for it's safety. The new owner is responsible for all Vet expenses after the purchase regardless of reason. Your puppy came with a certified Vet health checkup that was signed within hours of the purchase of your new puppy. The ONLY thing that may go wrong is stress due to shipping or travel. This is why you are given toy breed information on how to handle this.
Shipping
I do gladly ship my puppies when they are at least 8 weeks old (or older on smaller pups) and get the go ahead from my Vet.. I ship by air only .....Some reasons for that is they are from counter to counter and will have little or no layovers. I check & recheck plus go out of my way to insure the fastest trip possible for your puppy so it has less chance of stressing. The transportation van that moves them form plane to plane is heated [or air-conditioned] for whatever weather conditions at the time......I'm very comfortable with Continental Airlines and use them with great confidence.
I will admit I HAVE used a different airline in the past and some were not a positive outcome. grrrrrr!
In 2004 this other airline helped Santa by delivering a puppy 7 hours before the family was to celebrate Christmas that evening..... Minutes after the arrival time I was notified that the poppy was not on the destination flight! It took them 11 hours before they realized and admitted that the puppy was never put on the plane to start with. Instead it was still sitting in Tulsa on the loading dock among some other parcels that were going out a few flights later. They over looked the crate because the puppy didn't throw a fit or whine any .... remind you this was a gift FROM SANTA.... Hey, the airline was gracious enough to give me a credit of $50.00 off another flight ( right! Like I want to do this again!)
therefore,l et me say it again- I WILL NOT use a different airline just because it is;
1] closer to you
2] you have used another airline and you think it's better then Continental Airline.
3] Continental Airlines is x hours away and the other airline is x minutes down the road. You want it delivered to the minutes away airport so you don't have to travel that far......
Sorry for any inconvenience this has/will cause you but being a Continental 'frequent flyer' of sort for over 10+ years I think I'll stick with them. Even though you have a airport next to you that does NOT guarantee that Continental delivers there. I have provided the Continental Airlines phone number so you may inquire if they do indeed deliver to that airport. 1-800-575-3335 tell them your shipping from Tulsa , OK to your airport, state.
At times I will not be able to ship if the airlines puts a temporary hold to flying pets due to weather temperatures in your state or in Texas. I also want to state that it was brought to my attention that if a puppy has to held over in Texas [where they switch plains] due to weather their is an added $75.00 charge per day to the new owners. So far this has not happened but a few times but I just want you to be aware that this is a possibility ..... I'm not told of this hold when I drop off in Tulsa that this will happen and most new parents are not aware of it u until the collect the puppy and are asked to pay the difference.
Be assure my vet will not okay puppies to be shipped if she does not think it is best for the puppy. There is some chance that some of the little ones will stress during shipping. This is why I go into more detail on what you can do to take precautions BEFORE we ship. Shipping is an added cost on top of the purchase price of the puppy so make sure you know what the total purchase cost is.
I sell the majority [some I don't] of my puppies with a restrictive dog registration or don't register them at all. Meaning that I do not give breeding rights and you have to have them spade or neutered ......My reason for this... given the size of some of these babies it is quite evident that they cannot be bred. I do not charge Show Quality prices nor guarantee you are buying a show dog... in my opinion, a show dog is like a diamond in the rough and can only be seen when it is cleaned & polished. To pick a show dog it needs to be almost full growth, to determine its faults and I would not presume to make such an assumption based on a puppies pedigree nor his/her cute looks as a pup . However, you will receive all of the parents AKC, APRI, ACA, CKC microchip numbers, AKC DNA a pedigree if applicable to your puppy.
I can give vet, as well as new owner references and do suggest this. I hope this has helped to answer a few of your questions about our policy here at Lap Dogs. I will do everything possible to make purchasing one of our puppies a happy and problem free experience for you, your family AND your new puppy..... If you think you'll be interested please give me an e-mail or call and lets Talk!
Below is some information that I think is key for new owners that purchase one of my puppies. I have gathered this information to help you in understanding health problems or to just better equip you in preventing these problems. If I can answer any of your questions fill free to ask..... Jim
Health Issues and General Information you need to know for toy breeds
Diseases
All puppies need to be socialized at an early age. So hopefully your breeder has done his job and this has been started BEFORE you had taken possession of your new puppy. Once you have your new puppy it is best to avoid taking your pet to the park, on walks in the neighborhood, or around other pets until it has been fully vaccinated and has a fully developed immune system (usually 16 weeks of age). This is because until your new puppy has not had its full set of vaccinations, its immune system may not be properly equipped to handle diseases with which it could come in contact. Your puppy could easily get worms, parvovirus, or Coccidia from contaminated feces it my come in contact with or just by walking on the dirt . Yes, just by walking in the grass or dirt may kill your new baby! I have made an effort to insure that your puppy has not be exposed to any disease. Unfortunately, these diseases can live in stray animal feces and on the ground for many days, even years and can be easily transmitted to an unprotected puppy. Puppies are very curious of their new surroundings and will go smelling the ground, trees, rock, flower beds, anywhere another dogs or cats may have left their markings is possibility dangerous for your new puppy..
Symptoms: Symptoms could vary widely, depending on which disease your puppy has come in contact with. Parvo virus is the top killer. It often causes either depression, vomiting, diarrhea and/or cardiac problems (Myocarditis). Parvo has a strong odor and the puppy will bleed from 'both ends'. Myocarditis [transmitted form Mom to puppy] usually results in the puppy stopping nursing, crying out, and gasping for breath. Coccidiosis can cause diarrhea, dehydration, appetite loss, and anemia [also can be brought on by stress].
Treatment: Seek veterinary treatment immediately if your puppy has come in contact with any of these diseases and has not been fully vaccinated, as they can cause death in your puppy in only 24 hours. Of course, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Avoid contact with other animals and unknown places prior to full vaccination of your puppy. Have those people who handle the puppy wash their hands before handling. Since Parvo can also be carried on the bottom of your shoes, it is a good idea to keep shoes that you wear outdoors from contacting any area where the puppy sleeps/plays. Do not allow you puppy to lick or play bite hands, face or interact with children. We adults know how germs can spread.
Description of Canine Diseases
Canine Distemper. Transmitted by direct or indirect contact with the discharges from an infected dog's eyes and nose. Widespread, highly contagious, & often deadly, even among older dogs. The primary killer of puppies.
Canine Parvo. Highly resistant virus withstands extreme temperature changes and exposure to most disinfectants. May cause sever diarrhea and vomiting. A highly contagious disease; especially dangerous for puppies
Canine Corona. Highly contagious, but mild and self-limiting intestinal disease that occasionally will cause death. Causes vomiting and diarrhea in dogs of all ages, but is seen most often in young puppies
Canine Leptospirosis. Lepto is an infectious bacterial disease transmitted by contact with urine. Can be spread to humans as well as other animals and may lead to permanent kidney damage.
Canine Bordetella B. Bronchiseptica. Better known as Kennel Cough. It is a bacterial respiratory tract infection transmitted by nasal secretions. Infection can be severe in young puppies.
Canine Parainfluenza. Mild respiratory tract infection transmitted through contact with nasal secretions. Infection can be severe in young puppies.
Canine Adenovirus Type 1 & 2. Hepatitis is caused by Adenovirus type-1 and attacks the liver. Transmitted through contact with contaminated objects such as urine, saliva, and feces. Early signs are similar to distemper. Adenovirus type 2 is normally associated with kennel cough.
Canine Borreliosis-Lyme Disease. Bacterial infection cause by a bite from an infected tick. Symptoms include fever, lethargy, muscle stiffness. Lameness can occur in more severe cases.
Canine Giardia. A waterborne protozoal parasite found in ponds, puddles, swimming pools and in the backyard. Giardia is transmitted to other anomals by feces. Causes gastrointestinal problems in dogs. Symptoms can include diarrhea, weight loss, abdominal pain, and vomiting.
Rabies. The most feared disease, and is almost always fatal. Attacks the brain and central nervous system. Transmitted to humans througn a bite or scratch of an infected animal.
Low Blood Sugar (Hypoglycemia)
Description: This is the number one killer in toy breeds. I CAN NOT stress this enough Because toy breeds have such a small fat reserve around their liver, they are prone to low blood sugar. Although this can occur at any time, it's especially important to watch your new puppy due to it's small size.
Symptoms: Lethargy, lack of coordination (stumbling, falling, staggering), followed by seizures, coma and death if not treated. IF a puppy acts like it is drunk it is a good indication that it's sugar has gone down.
Treatment: Although you should always consult your veterinarian for the proper treatment of your particular breed, I recommend you keep a source of 'sugar' handy (e.g. Nutri-Cal, Nutri-Stat, Vitacal, Karo Syrup, honey, Pedialyte/sugar water Unflavored) to boost your little friend's blood sugar level when it starts dropping. I, myself, will use 1. Nutri-Cal, 2.honey and Pedialyte [unflavored] 100% of the time to bring up a puppies sugar. On a puppy I would suggest giving 1 cc of pure honey and maybe 1 cc of Pedialyte to drink to start off with. Do not over do it because they have a tendency to throw it back up. Remember, just like the sugar bottoming out the same thing can happen if it gets to much in to fast of a time. Do NOT leave this puppy alone and repeat in 15 minutes. You may offer the Pedialyte more often if it will take it.
The Nutri-Cal supplement is essential for any pet owner's medicine chest. (I even keep a tube in the van) It is specially formulated to give your pet the nutrition it needs and fast. It has been known to bring a puppy suffering from low blood sugar immediately out of the beginning stages of a coma. It also has high potency vitamins, minerals, fats, and carbohydrates which your puppy needs. Because it is high in B vitamins, Nutri-Cal can actually stimulate your pet to start eating right again. We recommend it be purchased before taking home any puppy. Especially, because most of our babies are UNDER 2 pounds at time of purchase. It can very easily save his life. It costs less than $5.00, much less than an emergency trip to the vet. Nutri-Cal is especially beneficial for pets that are stressed due to recovering from illness or injury[also due to a change in environment, a new home, and shipping] . It is also specially formulated to be gentle on sensitive digestive tracts, and can also be used for kittens. This may be able obtain through your veterinarian or local pet store. For severe cases of low blood sugar, your veterinarian may need to give an IV of a sugar solution. As a precaution, you can always make sure that when you're going to be away for a while that your little friend eats before you go and that you leave him food for when you're gone. Don't feed him candy, as this can cause the blood sugar level to surge and then drop drastically. Be advised that Lap Dogs Kennel WILL NOT be held libel for sugar loss regardless of levels AND any/all positive test of Coccidia once you have a puppy in you possession. (Being by plane or meeting in person)
Slipped Stifle (Luxating Patella)
Description: Slipping knee joints (also referred to as luxating patella's, slipped stifles) is a common problem in small breeds. In this condition, the kneecap slips out of its groove and moves against the thighbone (femur) instead of along its natural groove. Although most will argue that this is a heritable condition only, I like other breeders and Vets tend to think small, active breeds are likely to cause and irritate it through the course of their natural activities as in jumping up and down, around taller objects such as furniture, doing tricks, playing hard that involves running & turning.
Although, my Vet has screened my parents for this their really is no way I can foresee it in back generations. I would love to guarantee against this but it is just not possible. It's like comparing it to your Doctor promising you that your child will never get freckles. It's just not going to happen and In my eyes it just cant be done! so this is something that I do not cover. Now, if my Vet tells me a parent is starting to get it them they will have no more babies.
And honestly as tiny as my parents are and the tiny babies they have it really really would be stupid of me to promise you that your puppy would NEVER have joint problems. This is a standard problem in all toy breeds this small.
Symptoms: Rear leg lameness, shifting from one leg to another, hopping and/or skipping, and an inability to fully extend the leg, and can result in arthritis over time.
Treatment: Treatment usually involves correcting the problem threw a Vet. If treated early enough, the condition can be repaired such that the pet can lead a normal, healthy life. This condition should not cause a dog to be put down. However, it may require it to lead a quiet, low key life.
Stress
(another biggie on my list)
Because the doggies I breed are smaller then the average breeds, stress can affect them physically. Such as diet changes, moving to a new home, shipping, etc. Along with the sugar drop this can kill your puppy within hours if it is not caught on time.
Symptoms: Coughing, Diarrhea, Hypoglycemia, refuse to eat, Infection, uncontrollable shaking, throwing up, no energy, no interest in anything and even a positive test for Coccidia. (Reminder: Your pup has been treated 7 days for Coccidia, but stress can and will cause it to reoccur. This is why I will not cover Coccidia regardless of reason.)
Treatment: Always check first with your veterinarian to rule out a more serious reason for these symptoms, but coughing, diarrhea, and low blood sugar are fairly common responses to stress. Many of these symptoms are temporary and will go away once the puppy gets used to their new environment or situation. Of course, you need to treat low blood sugar as described above. Because stress can cause the immune system to become depressed, this may make the puppy susceptible to bacterial and/or viral infections. Your veterinarian will best be able to diagnose this and prescribe antibiotics in the case of a bacterial infection. Another thing that most people don't realize is that by you holding your new baby to much, and yes it can be done, can also stress it out. When you first receive your puppy give him/her plenty of down time. Keep noise to a minimum. Don't play to much with them at first. Don't decide to go on vacation, family gathering or to even to your child's ball game to show him or her off. If your are meeting me in person it usually means you have some travel time. Remember I had to travel to meet you and that alone can stress him/her out. So, think of your new baby and go straight home so that it can rest and get use to it's new home. Another suggestion is to fix the bed [or a box is excellent because it is tall on the sides] with a heating pad on one side of it. Make it to where if wanted he/she can lye on the heated side or lye on the cool side. Make sure to use with plenty of cover so they cant get to the pad and overheat. In adults dogs I still offer this when they have puppies or they look like they are having an 'off' day.
Vaccines
Because Toy breeds are so small and because vaccine manufacturers recommend giving the same amount of vaccine to a toy breed as to a large breed like a Saint Bernard, they may be more susceptible to vaccine related problems (as in reaction).
Possible Symptoms: Lethargy, depression, fever, and possibly death [just like a human baby]
Treatment: Vaccines are a very controversial subject and one you should discuss with your veterinarian. The information presented here is just an opinion and not to be used as a substitute for proper veterinary advice. Many toy breeders were losing puppies a few days after giving vaccines (especially the tiny ones like ours) and once they started giving half doses of vaccines (the killed vaccines rather than the modified live ones), and they quit losing their puppies.
Logically, you would wonder: "Why give the same dose of a vaccine to a 90 pound dog that you would to a 2 pound dog?" Even within the breeding community, there is discussion about which vaccines and how much to give to a toy breed puppy. One breeder quit giving the Leptospirosis Vaccine [like I] to their puppies based upon research at Kansas State University that suggests that there are more reactions to this vaccine than to others, and that Leptospirosis virus is pretty rare so why use it. Other breeders have not had any problems with this particular vaccine, although it is not given to their pups until 4 months of age. In the final analysis, the decision when and how much to vaccinate is left to the owner's and their veterinarian's discretion.
We here at Lap Dogs Kennel choose NOT to use Lepto on ANY pups under 1 yr of age. After struggling with it for a couple of years I decided to DO GIVE a whole vaccine [with NO LEPTO] but instead to hold off a extra week or so on the tiny tiny & teacup babies. This way they get the full dose but have a extra week to build themselves up some.
However, we DO use it on our adult dogs when they receive a booster vaccines one every year along with a Rabies and Kennel Cough. In our purchase agreement we have out lined what we request but we understand that you have no control over what a Vet does in his own practices. So please rely on you Vets advice.
Feeding
As stated above toy breeds are prone to low blood sugar, it is especially important to make sure that they do not go without food for too long of a time. For this reason, we recommend either free feeding or feeding several small meals a day. With free feeding, you will need to insure that your pet does not overeat and that other pets do not keep any one pet from eating. We recommend that you do not feed table scraps but to feeding a premium small bite puppy food. Ask you vet for a suggestion.
Just like a child you CAN teach you puppy to like certain 'treats'..... as is raw green beans, carrots, and apples. You can make 'Chicken Broth' ice cubes for a treat on a hot day. How about a scoop of cottage cheese & diced apples and hard boiled eggs? What about a piece of toast cut into 4's with peanut butter on it? Just remember, if it will give you gas, it will give them gas.
Same thing about diarrhea!... use the 'ol stand by, "if you can do it for a human baby - you can do it for a 4 legged baby?
Coccidiosis
To me this is a big killer side-by-side with Hypoglycemia..... I have had customers call me saying they purchased a puppy from another breeder and it died within days. PLEASE PLEASE read the following and take it to heart.
This is just a medical awareness more then anything, anyone purchasing a puppy should be aware of this parasite, it lives in every dog or puppy. They can get it from Mommy when they suck so all babies are a carrier of it. Mommy can fight off the bugs due to her immune system but the babies have not built up enough immunity to it yet. .
While here, your puppy has been treated for this parasite - we just try to do everything in our grasp to make new owners aware!!
Coccidia are tiny parasites that live in the cells of a dog's intestines.
IT IS COMMON in dogs/puppies to have this parasite . Because the pups immunity system is not built up yet and when the puppy is stressed (such as moving to a new home, shots, worming, shipping, anything suddenly new to the puppy or it's surroundings, etc.) this parasite may surface. All/Any type of stress could cause this parasite to surface and add it with them not eating or drinking now you have a sugar problem with the Coccidia. This parasite, as with other parasites, cannot effectively be treated until it is there to treat. So basically the puppy can leave the breeders home showing no signs at all, even be tested negative by doing a fecal exam, than show signs a few days later at their new home. You should take a fecal exam to your puppies new Veterinarian and have him/her check for this. But my suggestion is to ask for ALBON for your puppies first few days at home. This will insure that Coccidiosis wont surface.
What to watch For:
Loose stools, usually with blood or snotty muccus-but not always. This is the first thing I look for
Coughing.
Acting Depressed!
Not eating or drinking!
Sleeping a lot more than a normal puppy should.
Lifeless.
If you see any signs of any of these things, please have your Vet do a fecal exam right away, this will show if there is a problem with Coccidiosis. Your Veterinarian will then know how to treat your puppy. Treatment is usually 5 to 7 days on Albon or another type of sulfa drug.
As a breeder and someone who cares about our puppies we try to do everything to make sure your puppy does NOT have Coccidiosis when he/she leaves our home. Your puppy has already been treated at least once @ 5 days with Albon. But to be sure, have your Veterinarian check for this parasite.
Please note: Regular worming medication is not effective on this parasite, you must obtain the medication required for Coccidiosis from your Veterinarian!!!
Something else we want to bring to your attention. Even though we worm here for all worms your puppy has the potential to still have a worm called tape worm. This is a little worm that looks like grains of rice when it is expelled in the puppies/dogs stool. It is caused by fleas or flea eggs that is ingested by the dog/puppy. Due to that we believe puppies should not be raised in cages and like all kids they must be able to play I n the dirt and should be able to explore the grounds here, your puppy have been exposed to fleas that may live in the dirt here in Oklahoma. [Like we can get away from fleas...lol]
If you should see a tapeworm don't be alarmed, just ask your Vet for a pill called Dronict, it is a one time pill and works wonders.
At time I WILL worm for this if I see more then 'usual' fleas.
Heart worms: ........... tell your Vet you puppy HAS NOT been tested........
Mosquitoes Attack Dog - Carry Deadly Disease!
This could be a headline and it would be true, more so now in Western Pennsylvania than ever before, as Heartworm Disease is spreading through that state. Heartworm is a parasite that uses mosquitoes and dogs as its primary hosts. Adult heartworms live in the heart and lungs of the dog and produce microfilaria (immature heartworms) which circulate throughout the body in the blood stream.
When an infected dog is bitten by a mosquito, the microfilaria are ingested into the mosquito where they undergo several changes and become infected larvae which are injected into the next dog that the mosquito bites. Heart worm is not a quick killer of dogs, but rather takes its toll in long-term damage to the heart and lungs by the adult worms, and microscopic damage to the internal organs by the circulating microfilaria. Impaired liver and kidney function is common in dogs infected with heartworm.
A simple, 10 minute test done on a very small blood sample from your dog can tell if he/she is currently infected. If the test is negative your dog can be started on monthly preventative medication. This medication will kill the larva during the first 30 days of their development in the dog, which is why the monthly dose is effective.
A yearly negative test is required before restarting on the medication.
If your poor baby does test positive for Heartworm, it can be treated, usually successfully, without severe problems. It can be an expensive disease to treat (easily $200-500), and some dogs may have very severe reaction to the disease and/or treatment. Heartworm can be fatal. All in all, this is one disease that it is far better to prevent than treat. Yearly costs will average $15 for the test and $15-45 for a season of preventative medication, depending on the size of your toy breed. However, I must warn you DO NOT to treat this without getting your dog tested first. If they should haveheartworms and you give medication the worms can ball up when they try to pass and kill you baby. SO PLEASE, TEST FIRST!!!! Don't be sorry. This is kind of like the Coccidiosis, it something your baby can catch easy and within days so I feel by the time you have had your baby a week or so Im not responsible for heart worms.
Again, we thank you for purchasing one of our babies. We hope they bring you as much love as they have brought to us!
Sincerely,

Believe us when we say the financial and business side is our least favorite. We love meeting new people and placing new members into each family!! But...we must take care of the business side........
Once you decide you can't live another day without one of our babies, contact us!!
To hold your new love, we take a non-refundable deposit of $100.00 of the total purchase price. We must recieve the deposit within 72hrs or 3 days of your verbal commitment or we will release the hold on the puppy.
Your deposit ensures us we have found a great home for our babies, as well as ensures you we will hold the puppy of your choice. The reason it is non-refundable is because if the puppy is sold, people do not express interest. If the puppy is available...they will express interest and possibly purchase the puppy. We then get the contract signed, dated, and sent back.
